Major Institutional Investments

We make significant investments in exceptional nonprofit institutions with strong leadership and the potential for lasting impact.
The Foundation supports established organizations that demonstrate excellence in leadership, a clear and compelling mission, and the capacity to make a meaningful difference in the people and communities they serve. We look for exceptional executive and board leadership and opportunities where a major Foundation investment can strengthen an institution and advance its work for years to come.

Sage Hill Scholarship Endowment
In 2013, a major gift from the Picerne Family Foundation launched a scholarship endowment at Sage Hill School in Newport Coast, expanding access for a diverse range of students. The fund provides ongoing scholarships for deserving low- to middle-income students who would not otherwise be able to attend.
In recognition of the gift, Sage Hill named its Black Box Theater for Kazu Fukuda, Ken Picerne’s father-in-law, honoring the bond he shared with the Picerne family’s grandchildren.
Kazu Fukuda Science and Technology Facility, Pegasus School
Two major gifts in 2019 and 2020 funded construction of the Kazu Fukuda Science and Technology building at Pegasus School in Huntington Beach. The facility supports innovative programs in technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
