Three High School AP Teachers Selected for 2015/16 GSP

The Picerne Family Foundation has selected three high school AP science teachers from Orange County California to participate with students in the 2015/16 Global Sustainability Project. Jennifer Walters and Kimberly Rapp, both from Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach and Thomas Pfeifer from Segerstrom High School in Santa Ana have been selected because of their demonstrated leadership in environmental sustainability and in motivating students to pursue fieldwork outside the classroom. The teachers will organize and lead 10 students from each school in a 40-hour volunteer effort to provide service to a local ecological nonprofit or conduct environmental research at a local university. In addition, they will conduct an intensive yearlong study program. After students’ complete service and research components of the program, the teachers will accompany them on a twelve-day Earthwatch research expedition to a South African wildlife reserve.
