Picerne Family Foundation Awards New Vision Initiatives Grants for Mental Health Professionals
Awards are focused on providing opportunities for accomplished mental health professionals to implement a “dream project” that will have significant impact for the people and nonprofits they serve.
This year the foundation approved 9 proposals from mental health professionals. Among those receiving support were Open Paths Counseling Center, enabling them to launch a new psychoeducational support group designed specifically for black parents to address mental health concerns associated with having pre-term babies. The Ocean Discovery Institute will pilot a new program to provide much needed mental health services to high school students in their educational programs. Alzheimer’s Orange County is setting up a series of “Day Away” respite events that will enable family members caring for individuals with memory disorders a chance to step out of their usual life and routine of caretaking.
Each year the foundation awards up to $15,000 to mental health, healthcare and education professionals for the Vision Initiatives Program. The next application deadline is for health care professionals on October 13, 2023. Visit picernefoundation.org for information and to download an application.
