Quyen Vu

Quyen VuQuyen Vu has been a high school science teacher for 11 years. She currently teaches Biology Honors and AP Environmental Science at Gahr High School.

Throughout the school year, Quyen emphasizes the importance of sustainability by having her students take part in caring for our planet. She encourages her students to participate in local beach clean-ups, pull out invasive species to restore wetlands and attend fieldtrips where they learn more about how local organizations help protect our community. Quyen has developed an ongoing can and water bottle recycling project with her AP Environmental Studies students. Students donate the funds earned from this recycling program to an organization they choose. In addition to emphasizing the importance of sustainability, this project gives students an opportunity to voice their opinion and persuade their fellow peers to make a difference for a particular organization.

Quyen graduated from California State University of Long Beach with a BS in Microbiology and from National University a MA in Education and Technology.
