Fawn Norrup – Visual Artist, Educator
Fawn is leading an after school program to teach visual and performing art to Samoan youth in an Oceanside community that has experienced significant gang related violence and turmoil following the shooting of a two law enforcement officers in recent years. She is collaborating with the Youth Opportunities Network, Oceanside Samoan Cultural Committee, Save our Streets, the San Luis Rey Resource Center, and various community leaders to engage the neighborhood youth. She is creating an opportunity for young people to learn about the visual and performing arts in their cultural background. Fawn hopes to inspire a positive identity and sense of social communication through personal artistic expression. Fawn earned her BA in Studio Art from the University of California, Irvine. She also holds a California Single Subject Teaching Credential.
